Eric W. Bell

Ph.D. Candidate in Bioinformatics

email: ewbell@umich.edu
github: https://github.com/ewbell94/

Eric is a third-year graduate student in the Yang Zhang lab, pursuing a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics. His primary research interests involve the computational probing of protein structure-function relationships, particularly in protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions. As a researcher, he has contributed to the field of structure-based drug design through the virtual screening of the chaperone SurA, as well as the development of the DockRMSD tool. Currently, his research is focused on the development of a protein-protein interaction prediction pipeline which facilitates whole-proteome interaction prediction for any organism. In addition to research, Eric has a passion for teaching and has served as a Graduate Student Instructor, as well as a mentor for several undergraduate students. He aspires to become a faculty member at an academic institution in a position that involves both research and teaching/mentorship.
